Waste water ammonia stripping intensification using microfluidic system
This paper reports the results of experimentally removing ammonia from synthetically prepared ammonia solution using a micro scale mixing loop air stripper. Effects of various operational parameters (such as: pH, air flow rate, wastewater flow rate and initial ammonia concentration) were evaluated. By increasing the pH from 10 to 12.25 the amount of KLa increased from 0.26 to 0.73 hr-1. A consi...
متن کاملFault Tolerant DNA Computing Based on Digital Microfluidic Biochips
Historically, DNA molecules have been known as the building blocks of life, later on in 1994, Leonard Adelman introduced a technique to utilize DNA molecules for a new kind of computation. According to the massive parallelism, huge storage capacity and the ability of using the DNA molecules inside the living tissue, this type of computation is applied in many application areas such as me...
متن کاملPatterning microfluidic device wettability using flow confinement.
We present a simple method to spatially pattern the surface properties of microfluidic devices using flow confinement. Our technique allows surface patterning with micron-scale resolution. To demonstrate its effectiveness, we use it to pattern wettability to form W/O/W and O/W/O double emulsions.
متن کاملDrug Discovery Acceleration Using Digital Microfluidic Biochip Architecture and Computer-aided-design Flow
A Digital Microfluidic Biochip (DMFB) offers a promising platform for medical diagnostics, DNA sequencing, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), and drug discovery and development. Conventional Drug discovery procedures require timely and costly manned experiments with a high degree of human errors with no guarantee of success. On the other hand, DMFB can be a great solution for miniaturization, int...
متن کاملDigital Microfluidic System with Vertical Functionality
Digital (droplet) microfluidics (DμF) is a powerful platform for automated lab-on-a-chip procedures, ranging from quantitative bioassays such as RT-qPCR to complete mammalian cell culturing. The simple MEMS processing protocols typically employed to fabricate DμF devices limit their functionality to two dimensions, and hence constrain the applications for which these devices can be used. This p...
